I have fairly thick but fine, wavy hair; personally, the elastics in these simply weren't strong enough to hold my hair in place. The metal band was also a little too small, so there was a clear gap even when "closed." I tried to compensate for the poor hold by using a different elastic to actually secure my hair but unfortunately that just made the gap in the metal even more obvious. If you have a thin ponytail, however, these might work for you. There's nothing wrong with the construction, the elastic just isn't strong enough for my hair.The elastic band is very small so it makes it very difficult to use and remove.These would look nice in a pulled back upper half of hair. They really don't close around my hair in a ponytail, but I think I just need to experiment. I don't want to look like Madonna in the 80's, but the width is perfect. Just wish there was a little more room to hold hair well. It's NOT just a kids clasp! I have fine straight thick hair & it just 'barely' doesn't close for me. Since I've been losing hair, this actually made me feel good that I need to experiment!Also, be reeely careful pulling it out as until I learn how to do it right, it pulled some hair out trying to get the clasp out. I think I just need to practice.This item was returned. It would be perfect for someone with very thick hair.It takes a little bit to get used to wrapping your hair with the cuff attached to the tie. But you get it in a short period of time and then you have a neat look for long hair. Some reviewers have said they don't believe the tie can be replaced. But it appears that it can be replaced by opening the attachment ring, inserting new tie, and pinching the ring closed. Easy peasy!If you have thick hair these won’t work but I like the idea of them.I just received mine today so I can't really comment on the durability. I can comment though on how I am impressed with the beauty. I already ordered another set of different colors. I actually put on a separate pony tail holder and put this one over it. I like for my pony tail to be tight and this made it perfect. I was a little concerned about it fitting over both holders but it did just fine. I love how it makes my pony tail hang out a little bit, but not too much, just perfect.Nice professional look for a simple pony tail. These are pretty and easy to use.
